Citrine gets its name from the French word for lemon, citron, and, very appropriately as it is often yellow, although its color can range from a yellow to gold to bronze. It is available in many different sizes and shapes. Citrine is from the Quartz family, which also includes Amethyst and Chalcedony. This gem was known in ancient times as protection against evil thoughts and is sometimes thought of as an alternative birthstone for November. Today, Citrine is found mainly in Brazil.
